CT Scans Computed Tomography (CT or CAT Scans) is a sophisticated imaging technique that can show anatomy at different levels within the body. CT allows physicians to see a horizontal section of the body, just as if you were taking a slice of bread out of the loaf. CT scans are used to diagnose many conditions. In the head, they may be used to check for bleeding, tumors, blood clots, or signs of stroke. In other parts of the body, they may be used to identify solid of fluid-filled growths, determine an organ's size or shape, and evaluate many other diseases.
