Event and Holter Monitors

These monitors are extremely sensitive and able to detect heart problems that would otherwise be difficult to diagnose.  The monitor is usually worn for 24 hours and during this time it stores every heartbeat that occurs for the patient.  This can detect irregular heartbeats, premature contractions of the heart with identification of the heart chamber that has the problem, racing of the heart, etc.

These are worn at times when medication has been changed to monitor the effects of the medication.  The monitor is worn to detect any of these problems that may not always occur during a clinical visit.
